Joint Replacement Program
What is Osteoarthritis?
Am I a candidate for same-day joint replacement?
If joint pain interferes with your daily functions—such as walking, sleeping, or engaging in hobbies—you may be a candidate for joint replacement surgery. We encourage you to schedule a consultation with one of our expert surgeons to assess your eligibility for outpatient joint replacement.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
Pre-Surgery Process:
Once your surgeon determines that you are a suitable candidate for joint replacement, you will be guided through the necessary pre-operative steps, which may include a medical history review, lab work, and possibly an EKG. Please be advised that additional pre-operative testing may be required based on your individual health history, such as cardiac, dental, nephrology, neurology, oncology, pulmonology, or other evaluations. The surgical coordinator from your surgeon’s office will provide you with detailed instructions regarding these requirements once you have scheduled your surgical date. You will then meet with your Total Joint Nurse Navigator, who will ensure that all pre-operative tasks are completed on schedule and that you are fully prepared for surgery. Your Total Joint Nurse Navigator will be available to address any questions or concerns throughout the entire process, both before and after your procedure.
Surgery Duration:
On average, the joint replacement surgery will take between 1.5 to 2 hours. Following the procedure, you will recover in our state-of-the-art recovery room, where the nursing team will provide post-operative instructions. You will also work with a physical therapist to walk and navigate stairs, ensuring you feel confident in your ability to perform these tasks at home. Overall, you should plan to be at the center for approximately 5 to 6 hours.
